Project Manager

The DB Project Manager is responsible for the general oversight and project management of Defined Benefit administration work related to system implementations and plan specification development for the Southern Employee Benefits region. The PM works under general supervision exercising a great deal of initiative and independent judgment in the performance of any task assigned by the DB Operations Manager.

  • Coordinate work for DB Implementations for the Southern Region for all aspects of a DB Implementation from sales transition to ongoing admin transition; includes project management and coordination of existing client support and changes.
  • Coordinate staffing and implementation processes with the DB Operations Manager for new and ongoing Defined Benefit administration business on Milliman’s proprietary DB Administration system.
  • Assist in the development and review of plan specifications, system setup and process coordination for new Defined Benefit administration implementations based on existing plan documents, summary plan descriptions, and sample calculations.
  • Assist in support of overall work management and project management tasks associated with client technology support and development.
  • Support marketing efforts for all Southern Region business opportunities for DB Implementation and Administration services.
  • Review, restructure, and document all non-system oriented DB administration implementation policy and procedure, as appropriate.
  • Manage overall scope of work. Documenting and billing where appropriate for services outside of the initial definition of the project.
  • Initiate and participate in any national quality improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, leading key initiatives for the team and documenting procedures.


  • Three years of defined benefit administration and implementation experience, including processing and reviewing pension plan benefit calculations and pension plan implementations.
  • Three years of project management experience.
  • Knowledge of all regulatory facets of defined benefit plan administration such as 415 benefits limits, 401(a) (17) limits, minimum required distributions, nonqualified plans and other defined benefit regulatory issues involving ERISA and IRS Revenue Rulings.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to effectively manage and track many tasks, issues and projects at one time.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively manage project scope and client expectations, while providing a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Must possess the ability to accomplish tasks through others, in an environment with no reporting relationship.
  • Must possess a solid understanding of the DB outsourcing market and product.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • EA, ASA, CPC or QPA a plus.
  • PMP or CAPM from the Project Management Institute a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows, Office (Word and Excel) and Project. Experience with Microsoft Access and/or SQL Server a plus.
