The right candidate is well versed in employee benefits compliance and has in-depth experience helping others in maintaining compliance and advising on best practice solutions. Ideally, you are a good listener and astute with research tools, able to read others and adjust your communication style. You are as comfortable talking to someone who doesn’t know the difference between an HMO or PPO as you are talking with benefits experts that would consider you a peer. You pride yourself on your ability to explain complex concepts in terms that most anyone would understand.

This role is different from a traditional in-house benefits role; we are providing information, resources and guidance to our customers in the moment, with the information on hand. We interact via phone and email, versus in-person, and are not dealing with the ongoing day-to-day functions of in-house benefits administration.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, an ability to problem solve through research, collaboration, and retention of knowledge, and a demonstrated ability to consult with executives, business owners, and others with confidence and a solid business acumen will aid in your success in this role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4 or more years experience within the benefits space, with experience and knowledge covering a variety of benefit compliance areas
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the legal and regulatory environment impacting employee benefit offerings (Affordable Care Act, ERISA, Section 125, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefit plan management, theory, procedures, and practices and an understanding of how they impact business issues
  • Savvy use of technology including research tools, the internet and the ability to manage within several programs at a time
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • CEBS designation preferred
  • Experience within an insurance brokerage or insurance carrier a plus
  • General knowledge and experience in other functional areas of HR (employee relations, leaves of absence, performance & discipline, recruiting & hiring, terminations, wage & hour compliance, etc.) a plus
