Retirement Plan Specialist

Full-time position available for experienced defined contribution plan specialist.  Oasis DEG, Inc. provides outsourced HR services to small and mid-sized companies in 50 states.  We sponsor and provide full administration for our individually drafted multiple employer plan  and provide payroll-related services (contribution data and funds transmission) for a variety of client sponsored plans including 401(k), 403(b), SIMPLE, deferred compensation and defined benefit plans.

The Retirement Services department is responsible for the accurate and timely transmission and reporting of contribution and census data for retirement plans sponsored by our clients.  Understanding of defined contribution plan recordkeeping and compliance, data accuracy, attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential in this position which interacts with multiple service providers, internal client service teams, client employers and worksite employees. 

Work schedule is Monday through Friday; office hours are generally between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Duties Include:

  • Gathers the necessary information to set up retirement plan eligibility and contribution calculation rules in the payroll/HRIS system for a variety of plan types and designs (e.g., 401(k), 403(b), SIMPLE, 457, SERP))
  • Works with plan providers and internal resources to efficiently provide the agreed upon services relative to client sponsored plans. Establishes procedures for new plan contribution and data processing.
  • Downloads data from HRP to accurately report contributions. Works closely with IT to identify, test and resolve HRP system issues, enhancements and upgrades.
  • Prepares funding authorization for client sponsored plans. Reconciles G/L accounts to ensure contributions and funding are accurate and in balance.
  • Uploads and keys individual employee contribution elections and 401(k) loan payments into HRP.
  • Monitors delinquent loan reports; contacts employees to make repayments arrangements; coordinates loan default process.
  • Researches new hire, rehire and employee termination events in conjunction with plan rules.
  • Takes incoming phone calls from all client companies and providers.  Reacts within specified time frames to all customer inquiries and maintains superior client relationships.
  • Conducts complete investigation into potential errors and plan administration issues.  Documents appropriately and makes recommendations about necessary actions to be taken.
  • Responds to client, employee and provider inquiries related to retirement benefit programs. 
  • Distributes required plan documents such as SPD, safe harbor notice, SAR.
  • Presents compliance test results to clients and HCEs, makes recommendation to prevent test failure and works to maintain client satisfaction with Retirement Services department and Oasis DEG 401(k) Plan value.
  • Provides data and information to external auditors in conjunctions with annual and periodic audits. Researches exceptions and coordinates obtaining documents.
  • Proactively recommends changes to operating procedures to maximize accuracy and productivity

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance or other related area and 2 years of defined contribution plan administration experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to properly apply retirement plan regulations and plan provisions to a variety of retirement plans and providers.
  • Industry recognized professional designations (ASPPA, QPA,QKA or CPC) preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and ability to quickly learn new software applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
