The Retirement business is one of the largest business lines in the DST Financial Services.  It is also one of our fastest growing businesses.  DST offers a broad portfolio of products and services to this segment and plan to grow it over time. 

Role Overview

The Director, Product Management Retirement Products and Services will be responsible for defining, developing, enhancing DST’s products and services for the Retirement Industry.  Our products include; TRAC, Retirement Portability, Learning Center, Advisor Workstation, myPLANnetwork, Plan Investment Plus and Retirement Analytics.  This person will manage a staff of product managers whose responsibilities include conducting research, developing product strategies, product roadmaps, product designs and overseeing the overall health of our Retirement portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Retirement product life cycle management function, assess industry and market to determine FS product direction, roadmaps and oversee end to end product life cycle from market assessment through end retirement. 
  • Work collaboratively with teams across DST to bring new products to market and drive adoption to achieve FS financial performance goals.
  • Conduct client, market and customer research.  Work with business line owners and senior management to set and establish product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Hire, develop and manage a highly skilled and sought after strategic workforce.  This includes developing internal associates as well as external recruiting and hiring.
  • Collaborate with DST’s technology product development organization to develop and utilize modern product development processes to improve the speed and quality of our execution.
  • Utilize modern product management processes.  Be a key contributor to the establishment of improved product development processes.
  • Work to establish a customer centric, innovative culture.   Do this by hiring and retaining associates with the right skills, experience and attitude, fostering a creative work environment and exposing our staff to new and innovative ways of building better products and services.
  • Direct client and customer research.  Understand their needs and buying behaviors.  Present roadmaps to clients.  Help sell and evangelize our ideas with our client base.  Help position our products and services.   Be a strong advocate for the needs of end consumers within DST.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/ or 10 plus years working experience in a product and portfolio management role within a software development environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building best practices for product management and program management functions within fortune 1000 firm.
  • Strong expertise and knowledge of the Retirement Services Industry including the ability to demonstrate existing contacts and relationships within the industry.
  • Experience assessing businesses, industries and driving innovation to generate new/adjacent sources of revenue growth in mature businesses.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries where meeting compliance requirements is mission critical to the ongoing viability of a firm.
  • Ability to adapt leadership style to influence change in a diverse business environment (mix of growth and mature businesses).
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of to improve/influence/transform business outcomes (revenue, cost, quality and speed).
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing through presentations and individual discussions with all levels of the organization.
