Senior Benefits Manager

POSITION: The Senior Manager of Benefits strategizes, develops, implements, administers and maintains benefits programs that will attract, motivate and retain employees. This position oversees the guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans. This position develops, recommends and installs approved, new or modified plans and employee benefits policies and supervises administration of existing plans. Manages internal equity and external competitiveness.

REPORTING: This position reports to the Director of Human Resources. 



  • Strategically positions the company to have a competitive benefit program within budget
  • Develops, implements and maintains benefit programs that attract, motivate and retain employees
  • Participates in negotiations with benefit plan providers, vendors, auditors and brokers for services, premiums and plan administration
  • Works collaboratively with payroll, accounting, legal, broker, external benefits consultants and employees.
  • Ensures benefit programs and administration meet all compliance, audit and reporting requirements
  • Prepares and communicates information to employees and former employees about benefit programs and government-mandated disclosures
  • Oversees the administration and management employee insurance plans; may assist as needed
  • Oversees 401(k) retirement plan
  • Advise Administrators, management and HRBPs on benefits policies, procedures, and classification programs
  • Keeps apprised of changes in benefit laws and regulations in order to ensure compliance



  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting or related field;  MBA is preferred, but not required
  • Professional designation of CBP is desired, but not required

Work Experience:

  • At least 6-8 years experience in Benefits is required
  • At least 3 years experience managing a full Benefits department
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience in multi-unit settings preferred
  • Relevant industry experience a plus
