Senior ERISA Compliance Specialist

Hooker & Holcombe, Inc., New England's premier regional retirement consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Senior Compliance Specialist with 8 - 10 years’ of experience in the pension administration.  This Senior ERISA Compliance Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact relating to plan administration for the client.  The ideal candidate is highly motivated and energetic with an attitude that will contribute positively to individual and team goals.  


  • Prepare and analyze provisions in plan documents
  • Review pension trust accounting for accuracy.
  • Perform annual compliance testing to demonstrate satisfaction of coverage and non-discrimination requirements (ADP / ACP, 410(b) coverage, top heavy, 415, and cross testing)
  • Determine plan eligibility, plan entry dates and plan compensation
  • Prepare client reports and confirm accuracy of data
  • Complete, prepare and/or review annual valuations and 5500 Forms.
  • Assist with plan implementation
  • Integrates operating systems to efficiently process client data
  • Handles a book of business
  • Assists on other plan administration inquiries where needed


  • Proficient knowledge of ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations and IRS EPCRS program
  • BA/BS degree required or equivalent work experience within the retirement plan industry
  • This position requires achievement of a minimum QKA designation through the American Society of Pensions Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) or APA designation through the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA). Industry Designations, through ASPPA or CEBS preferred.
  • DB / DC Combo and Cash Balance Plan experience a plus
  • Software Skills: MS Office 2010 -- Excel, Word, Outlook; ASC, Wolters Kluwer (FT William), McKay Hochman


  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in full pension administration
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and orally in a professional manner
  • Desire to take ownership of the position while working as a team player
  • Concern for quality and standards
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and demanding clients while maintaining a positive and professional attitude
  • Willingness to learn and coachable
  • Detail oriented
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical and critical-thinking skills
