At Wespath Benefits and Investments we care for those who serve by providing investment and benefit services that honor the mission and principles of the
United Methodist Church. Our Conference Liaisons are client relationship managers who work closely with church plan sponsors located throughout the United States. The Conference Liaisons help plan sponsors with their decision making process as it relates
to benefit planning, service delivery, and compliance. They also represent the needs of the plan sponsors to other Wespath departments enabling the organization to strategize how to best meet the needs of our customers.
Due to the nature of our
business, the Conference Liaison role is not heavily sales focused as may be the case in many client relationship management roles. Our liaisons consult with plan sponsors related to the benefits and services available and to proactively identify the
appropriate contacts at the plan sponsor.
external customer plan sponsor relationship management (building effective relationships and communication strategies, thorough understanding of the plan rules and the retirement, health & welfare and investment products).
Develop for each
assigned relationship, an annual strategic relationship plan to be finalized with plan sponsors and ensure completion of objectives within mutually agreed upon timeframes.
Provide or coordinate thorough, individualized training of plans and
systems (formal and informal) for key client contacts as needed.
Brainstorm new and innovative ideas that will enable the plan sponsor to flourish and extend beyond the needs of the participant.
Respond to plan related questions and
issues and coordinate plan sponsor enrollments, terminations, and adoption agreements internally.
Positively represent Wespath and adopted or recommended plan designs to key client contacts, pension boards and other significant groups and
Review annual elections; propose changes to plan administration guidelines.
Assist in the development of specialized programs for plan sponsors and their affiliates.
Identify and effectively pursue opportunities to
cross-sell products and services and assist in achieving the organizations new business goals.
Participate in on-going assessment of plan sponsor satisfaction with products, product design and service.
Conduct ongoing analysis of assigned
plan sponsors consisting of the following steps; 1) understanding of the history, business, population and specific needs of the plan sponsors; 2) review the plan sponsors' current benefits program elections, enrollment data, adequacy of benefits,
compliance and training issues and provide comparisons against need and objectives; 3) identify ways in which the organization can support plan sponsors through existing or future products and services.
Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field with demonstrated knowledge of employee benefits and financial products & services.
7 years of experience as a relationship manager in the employee
benefits industry working with customers with plan assets greater than $10M.
Knowledge of Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, 401 (k) and/or 403 (b) Pension Plans, and investments.
The ability to travel domestically 20-40% of the
Knowledge of Health and Welfare Plans
CEBS Certification or RPA Certification
Experience or knowledge of not-for-profit employee benefit plans
