Manager, Retirement Planning Consultant

Job Description Summary
Oversees the management and development of a team of retirement plan counselors (RPC) providing educational services for major Transamerica clients. Works closely with senior management to ensure client communication programs and performance objectives are met. Works with Regional Offices to ensure consistency at meetings when multiple educators are involved.

Job Description


  • Manage and develop a team of assigned RPC reps.
  • Train and certify team members to conduct retirement planning meetings and counseling sessions.  Provide the team with on-going training as new products and services are introduced.  Conduct periodic evaluations and identify development opportunities. 
  • Work with Client Executives to create and execute education campaigns for new and existing clients.
  • Develop action plans to establish team and site level objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and implement solutions.
  • Conduct meetings during peak periods and assist the sales team with sales finals and preparation as needed.



  • BachelorâEUR(tm)s degree in business, finance, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Seven years of experience in the retirement plan industry.
  • In-depth investment knowledge.
  • FINRA Series 6 or 7, and 63.
  • FINRA Series 65 or 66, and 26, or acquire within six months (if applicable for the team).
  • CRPC designation, or acquire within six months.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for group presentations and daily contact with client employee base.
  • Management skills to lead, coach, develop and motivate staff.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to proactively resolve client and staff issues.
  • Proficiency using MS Office tools.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory/management experience.


Working Conditions

  • Work remote from home.
  • Moderate travel (up to 25%).
