Health & Welfare Department Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Health and Welfare Manager is integral to MidAmerica’s success with Distribution Partner, Client and Participant satisfaction. The Health and Welfare Manager will lead a team responsible for the accurate and timely claims administration of Health and Welfare benefit plan structures while delivering comprehensive customer service. Additionally, the Health and Welfare Manager will be responsible for product knowledge and compliance, measurable metrics, process efficiencies, organizational structure and employee development.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of the Health and Welfare team ensuring accurate and timely claims administration while delivering comprehensive customer service
  • Thorough understanding of IRS regulations, Relius and Alegeus claims adjudication platforms, and Crystal Reporting
  • Communicate product knowledge accurately and effectively with Distribution Partners, Clients, Participants and internal team members
  • Enhance departmental structure for continued processing efficiencies
  • Assess and develop team member core competencies while empowering them to expose their full potential
  • Ability to achieve all deadlines

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ year of healthcare experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Health and Welfare plan structures, including a full understanding of 213(d) requirements
  • Strong product knowledge and compliance expertise with the ability to read and interpret plan documents, IRS regulations and DOL guidelines
  • 5+ years managing teams of 20+ members
  • Strong analytic skills to evaluate current procedures and processes, recommending measurable improvements
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization as well as Distribution Partners, Clients and Participants
  • Great attention to detail

  • Adept at creating templates in Crystal Reports
  • Advanced technical and Excel skills
