As an ERISA Consultant you will focus on the documentation, correction, regulatory compliance testing, annual filing preparation, contribution calculation, and termination of
ERISA and non-qualified retirement plans. You will work with 401(k), 457(b), 403(b), and Defined Benefit plans. You will manage the entire plan-level process to ensure that plan design and operation meets regulatory compliance standards. If a
correction is necessary, you will manage the filing and closing process through EPCRS, VCFP, determination letter requests, DOL & IRS audit, and PBGC standard and distress termination requests.
Service a caseload of medium to large complex plans, including prevailing wage, QACA & EACA arrangements, defined benefit and cash balance
Completion of Annual Valuation Reports including the Form 5500
Performing all annual testing including ADP/ACP; coverage; non-discrimination including cross-testing under 401(a)(4), non-safe harbor compensation definitions under 416, and combined plans; & top heavy; etc.
including minimum required contributions under IRC 430
Overall technical familiarity with plan rules including contribution limits, benefit restrictions under IRC 436, distributions, loans, hardships, etc.
Support Sales and Implemetation reviewing defined benefit and cross-tested plan design or existing documents to implement new and takeover retirement plans
Advise and support Client Relations with technical questions from Plan Sponsors,
Administrators, Auditors, and Advisors
Draft, submit, and monitor filings and requests with IRS TE/GE & EPCRS, PBGC, and DOL, including bankruptcy and orphan plans
Review financial results and determine gain/loss requirements of
Serves as a technical resource for customers, distribution channels, internal associates, and other business partners for design, installation, compliance, and problem resolution. Fosters
relationships that ensure customer satisfaction and retention of plan assets
Initiates or responds to client requests. Meet established turnaround times to avoid financial penalties
Provides pre-sale and continual consultations to
internal and external partners on regulatory issues
Undergraduate degree or 15+ years of comparable work experience preferred
QKA, and QPA or ERPA
15+ years of demonstrated knowledge in plan compliance.
Intimate knowledge of laws and regulations related to qualified and non-qualified plans and types of plan designs (IRS, DOL, ERISA, EGTRRA, PPA
Familiarity with Sunguard Relius and/or experience with similar defined benefit valuation system, i.e. ACS, Datair, etc.
A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance
Possesses a bias for action, avoids workplace distractions, and drives performance targets to completion
