The position entails providing paralegal support to our Corporate Benefits staff unit in the areas of ERISA and employee benefits law.  These responsibilities include work with respect to the Wells Fargo 401(k) Plan, Cash Balance Plan, deferred compensation plans and health & welfare plans including the short term disability and long term disability plans. Duties with respect to these plans include performing legal research; assisting in the review of various participant communication materials; participating in various internal client meetings; reviewing policies and procedures;  assisting in drafting plan amendments and resolutions (including on M&A related matters); providing day to day ERISA and employee benefits paralegal support to HR clients on general subjects such as POAs, plan QDROs and participant level legal issues; documentation and maintenance/updating of the teams project status tracking report; and monitoring legal and regulatory developments in such areas as HIPAA and the Affordable Care Act.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of paralegal experience

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Substantive knowledge and understanding of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Internal Revenue Code, and corresponding regulations related to employer sponsored benefit plans.

Job Expectations

  • Paralegal certification may be required in some states
