Defined Benefit Coding Analyst

Responsibilities

If so, check out this great opportunity to join our Defined Benefit Plan Coding team!

As a Defined Benefit Coding Analyst, you will be responsible for programming, maintaining and testing software that provides participants access to their retirement benefits on the web. Utilize your technical skills to independently research and complete pension calculations, analyze results and make necessary recommendations.

We are looking for someone who thrives on solving unique problems using advanced analytical skills and enjoys working with various internal partners and tools pending the business need.  Serving as an expert for internal and external contacts.

Additional responsibilities may include: 

  • Program and test administrative software and systems for defined benefit calculations, utilizing plan documents, sample calculations and calculation policies.
  • Perform benefit calculations to validate, troubleshoot and debug administrative systems to confirm accuracy per client plan specifications.
  • Maintain programming for software enhancements, plan amendments, compliance and regulatory changes.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new clients, providing guidance on data and plan provisions to implement the client onto our software ensuring a seamless transition for the client
  • Provide technical support and resolution to business partners to ensure accurate functionality of system calculations, including research, analysis and calculation consulting
  • Utilize defined benefit expertise to clearly communicate complex calculations in simplified terms for internal and external parties. 
  • Lead and assist in the completion of assigned projects, including but not limited to research, analysis and testing.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure a seamless implementation for new clients.
  • Identify, analyze and resolve administrative system concerns

Qualifications

Skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 8 years’ experience. (Degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or major in an analytical field is preferred.)
  • 3+ years of work-related experience in defined benefit pension field is required.
  • Previous experience using defined benefit systems such as Lynchval/LVAdmin, ProVal/ProAdmin or another pension software is highly preferred.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with advanced knowledge of Excel logical functions
  • Knowledge of SQL, XML or other programming languages is highly preferred.

  • High integrity and discretion to ensure the confidentiality of client information.
  • A good understanding of all regulatory items impacting participant benefits is vital to ensure administrative system calculations are correct
