General Description:

Start date for position: December 1, 2026.

This is a fully remote position. The successful candidate for this position will be detail oriented, self-motivated, and efficient. The DB Consultant will review actuarial valuations and administration for Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plans prepared by administrators. Additionally, the DB Consultant will provide consulting to Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plan sponsors.

Job Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Maintain an assigned book of Defined Benefit and Cash Balance Plans.
  • Provide superior consulting and client service.
  • Review actuarial valuations and non-discrimination testing pursuant to ERISA guidelines and IRS procedures.
    • Contribution calculations to optimize tax savings.
    • Non-discrimination testing, such as Participation Testing (401(a)(26)), Coverage Testing (410(b)), General Testing (401(a)4)), etc.
    • Earned income calculations, as necessary, for self-employed Plan Sponsors.
    • Asset reconciliations, including trust accounting, as necessary.
  • Review necessary government filings pursuant to IRS/DOL guidelines and requirements, including but not limited to Forms 5500 and Schedule SB.
  • Review Plan Documents and amendments.
  • Review calculation of retirement distribution benefits.
  • Review PBGC filings and notices.
  • Track upcoming deadlines and follow up with clients for data.

Qualifications required:

  • 3+ years of experience administering small Defined Benefit/Cash Balance plans.
  • College degree.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and Adobe.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to track multiple tasks and issues, set goals and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be mature and dependable.
  • Must be able to work both independently and with direction.

Desired, but not required:

  • Working knowledge of FtWilliam and Stax CX.
  • Industry-related credentials (ASPPA or NIPA) preferred.
