Plan Document Compliance Consultant

Job Summary: The Plan Document Compliance Consultant conducts in-depth review calls with clients and advisors, ensuring plan compliance with ERISA regulations, analyzes retirement plan
documents to document current and updated plan provisions, ensuring plan compliance with ERISA regulations, and verifying that plan administration matches document provisions. The role also includes educating clients on plan document provisions, upcoming
ERISA law changes, collaborating with internal teams to correct errors, and translating plan provisions for legal and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and interpreting previous carrier’s documents to
generate a customized plan review for the client, advisor, and internal parties.
- Conduct an in-depth review call with the client, advisor, and internal parties to review current plan provisions and provide recommendations for optimal plan
performance, while ensuring the plan compliance with ERISA regulations.
- Verify and confirm that the client’s plan administration aligns with plan document provisions, and work with the Consulting Team on corrections required to plan
documents and other operational errors.
- Educate clients on how plan provisions relate to the administration and compliance of the plan, and what future changes in ERISA law (CARES, SECURE 1.0, SECURE 2.0) may impact current plan
operations.
- Translate plan provisions and plan updates into plan design template for the legal department. Summarize plan provisions and changes for internal groups as part of the onboarding process
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Min 10+ years of industry experience
- Customer focused (internally and externally)
- Advanced understanding of a retirement plan document and basic
plan provisions (, i.e., contribution types, eligibility requirements, distributions and vesting)
- Advanced understanding of basic regulatory guidelines governing retirement plans, including awareness of key compliance dates for government
rules
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel – must have ability to create formulas and macros, set up and navigate spreadsheets, manipulate data)
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; able to communicate effectively with
senior level management
- Excellent presentation skills
- Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
