Purpose of Position

A Client Relationship Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for a book of business for both Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit plans of all sizes. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate relationship management skills, testing, preparation & timely delivery of valuation reports, including the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strengthen relationships with clients and advisors through delivery of phone and email
  • Respond to plan sponsors and advisors’ questions related to all aspects of their retirement plan including plan design
  • Monitor annual plan projects, calendars, and milestones
  • Administer and communicate annual plan compliance & testing results and annual tax filings
  • Ability to interpret basic plan documents, plan adoption agreements and amendments
  • Maintain knowledge regarding industry trends and legislative/regulatory requirements and changes
  • Proactively request information and alert clients to plan operational and compliance matters
  • Prioritize, research, and resolve client questions related to technology, plan operation, compliance, and other matters
  • Coordinate with other team members as required for support on recordkeeping and plan administration
  • Communicate 401(k) recordkeeping processes and technology
  • Maintain documentation on client projects and responses within FT William and PensionPro systems

  • Prompt follow-up on open items with clients or internal team members
  • Strong initiative, integrity, self-motivation, and results orientation
  • Demonstrates excellent attendance, punctuality, and time management
  • Conveys a professional and positive attitude while interacting with clients and internal team members
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information and regulations into terms readily understood by team members and our clients
  • Ability to build rapport remotely while working productively with limited in-person interaction

Education and Qualifications

  • 5+ years Retirement Plan Experience with 401(k) preferred with demonstrated subject matter expertise
  • Administrative and Testing Experience a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills:  verbal, listening and written
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a changing and fast paced environment, with enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Experience using recordkeeping/TPA software, FT William and PensionPro experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Teams, Word, and Excel
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Certifications through NIPA or ASPPA, including QKA or equivalent desired -- or must be willing to work towards Industry Designation credentials

  • Be online and available during designated business hours in your local time zone
  • Familiarity with using Microsoft Teams or other virtual meeting applications to collaborate with colleagues via video and cha.
  • Experience with file-storage and file-sharing tools such as Microsoft SharePoint and Citrix ShareFile
