Defined Contribution Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Defined Contribution Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administering defined contribution retirement plans, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with Relius Administration Systems and PensionPro is highly desirable. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a commitment to compliance, and the ability to provide exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan Administration: Manage the administration of defined contribution plans, including 401(k), profit-sharing, and other employer-sponsored retirement plans.
• Trust Accounting:  Reconciliation and reporting annually on plan trust/assets
• Compliance Testing: Conduct nondiscrimination testing (ADP/ACP, top-heavy, coverage testing) to ensure plans comply with IRS and Department of Labor regulations.
• Plan Document Maintenance: Review and update plan documents, amendments, and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) in accordance with regulatory changes.
• Form 5500 Preparation: Prepare and file annual Form 5500, including all required schedules, and address related inquiries.
• Client Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing guidance on plan operations, compliance, and best practices.
• Contribution Calculations: Perform contribution calculations and allocation analyses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to plan provisions.
• Systems Utilization: Use Relius Administration Systems and PensionPro (if applicable) for plan administration, recordkeeping, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the administration of defined contribution plans.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ERISA regulations, IRS compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Relius Administration Systems and familiarity with PensionPro is a strong advantage.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. ASPPA or other relevant certifications (e.g., QKA, QPA, CPC) are a plus.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
• Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially in compliance and financial calculations.
• Organized: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple plans and deadlines effectively.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience working with plans that are cross-tested with defined benefit plans
• A proactive and client-focused attitude.
• Experience with plan conversions and plan terminations.
• A strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
