As a Defined Contribution Pension Analyst, you will provide third party defined contribution qualified plan administrative services.  Services provided include normal annual administrative services, as well as periodic review for compliance with regulations. You will also primarily be responsible for the processing and validation of participant distributions from our block of Defined Contribution qualified plans.

Description of Duties & Responsibilities of a Defined Contribution Pension Analyst:

  • Calculate Required Minimum Distributions, prepare and submit 1099R forms, calculate maximum loan amounts and prepare participant loan forms.
  • Complete annual valuations for assigned plans and communicate with plan sponsor and advisors.
  • Determine eligibility, reconcile trust assets, input data into administration software to calculate allocations and prepare reports. 
  • Prepare and review non-discrimination testing using administration software.  Communicate allowable/appropriate correction options to clients.
  • Complete Form 5500 filings, prepare Summary Annual Reports and complete electronic filing through EFAST.
  • Prepare required election and disclosure forms for terminated and retired participants.  
  • Prepare plan document restatements and plan amendments. Review plan to confirm that it meets client objectives.
  • Process plan terminations, including preparation of termination amendments, resolutions and notices. Prepare final calculation of benefits owed to each participant and complete IRS filings when requested.
  • Prepare and submit time sheets daily.
  • Maintain PensionPro workflow tracking for assigned projects. 
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Required Skills & Experience of a Defined Contribution Pension Analyst:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in plan administration for small to medium sized plans required. 
  • ASPPA Qualified 401(k) Administrator or Qualified Pension Administrator designation preferred.
  • Experience with Relius Administration software and plan documents preferred.
  • Experience with compliance research and updating policies and procedures. 
  • Strong analytic and decision making skills. 
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and critically.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work under pressure.
  • Ability to learn quickly and take on increasing responsibility.

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Mathematics or related field of study. 

Pay Range: $21.40 to $27.54 hourly

The starting pay rate for this role is based on a variety of relevant factors, including location, education, experience, and skills.
