Pension consulting firm located in the Kansas City metro area is seeking a Pension Plan Administrator with experience in the small to medium-size client marketplace.  Our firm has been providing TPA services for qualified retirement plans for 45 years.  Ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, reliable and have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the qualified plan market.  This is a full-time, on-site position in Overland Park, Kansas.

Position Summary:

The Pension Administrator manages operational aspects of the assigned retirement plans, including phone contact, information gathering, annual compliance and testing cycle, including preliminary analysis of the 401(k) and 401(a) non-discrimination testing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of Annual Reporting including IRS Form 5500 and schedules.
  2. Trust reconciliation of plan assets.
  3. Census analysis, eligibility calculations, vesting determination.
  4. Perform compliance testing, including ADP/ACP discrimination testing, top-heavy testing, 402(g) and 415 testing.
  5. Calculation and allocation of plan contributions. Monitor plan and participant limits.  Resolve plan discrepancies and corrections.
  6. Ability to handle caseload of small to medium-size clients with daily contact.  Maintain excellent client relationships and assist financial advisors as needed.
  7. Provide plan audit support as needed.

Qualifications:

Experience in qualified plan market including Profit Sharing, 401(k) and Cross-Tested plans.  Cash Balance plan experience a plus.

  1. Member of ASPPA (QPA, QKA) or interest in obtaining designation.
  2. Bachelor Degree preferred in Business, Accounting, Mathematics.
  3. Proficient in Excel,Word, Outlook.
  4. Highly motivated, self-starter who can work independently.  Must be analytical with great attention to detail.
  5. Relius or ASC software beneficial.
  6. Experience with plans on daily valuation platforms is necessary.
