PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Plan Termination Specialist will be responsible for the final administration of terminating retirement plans. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate an excellent level of proactive client focus and teamwork with clients, advisors, CPAs, and internal partners
  • Point of contact for terminating defined contribution plans administration
  • After plan termination engagement letter is signed, carry out all remaining annual compliance testing, final contribution calculations, and governmental forms filings
  • Ensure timely review and delivery of final administration and tax filings while updating workflow system
  • Develop technical skills to become a subject matter expert in regulatory and industry practices specifically related to plan terminations
  • Track upcoming deadlines and follow up with clients consistently for data or additional information
  • Become familiar with and help develop and maintain the Plan Termination Team processes and reporting procedures
  • Actively participate with the rest of the Plan Termination Team to develop, communicate and train on Definiti policy and procedures to ensure a uniform plan termination process for all clients as much as possible

Requirements

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Defined Contribution Plan Administration
  • Broad knowledge of the retirement plan industry, willingness to obtain ASPPA QKA designation or NIPA equivalent
  • ASC experience preferred
  • PensionPro experience preferred 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and systems
  • Proven competency in reading and interpreting retirement plan documents with a solid understanding of related rules and regulations

REMOTE WORKING REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to build rapport with others remotely while working productively with limited in-person interaction
  • Have access to a reliable and consistently strong, high-speed internet connection suitable for remote work. A stable, high-speed internet connection is essential for effective communication, collaboration, and productivity while working remotely
  • Designate a quiet, and well-lit space free of as many distractions as possible
  • Be online and available to work during designated business hours in local time zone
  • Accustomed to using Microsoft Teams (or similar virtual-meeting applications) to meet with colleagues regularly on video and use the chat feature for quick communications. We utilize many Microsoft Teams features (such as Channels and file storage) for announcements, relevant conversations, and file sharing. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams is a plus
  • Accustomed with file-storage and file-sharing tools such as Microsoft SharePoint
