About Aboon

Aboon is a technology company serving as a digital Third Party Administrator (TPA) for 401(k) plans. We are dedicated to supporting financial advisors and employers offering 401(k) plans through our scalable and user-friendly platform. Our mission is to educate and simplify the process for employers and advisors, making the administration of retirement plans a seamless and efficient experience. Aboon is well funded and supported by a team that has decades of experience building fintech, SMB, and retirement platforms.

Position Overview

This isn’t your everyday TPA experience! We are seeking an innovative and tech-forward 401(k) Retirement Plan Consultant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be our first administrator/consultant, playing a key role in shaping the future of our services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem-solving, building creative solutions, and improving the 401(k) client experience.

The role will evolve as our team grows, and you’ll have a hand in shaping that evolution. Initially, you can expect to:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for 401(k) plan clients, providing exceptional service and support.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver plan documents, disclosures, and amendments to meet client goals and align to various Recordkeeper products.
  • Perform required non-discrimination testing and ensure compliance with ERISA and IRS regulations.
  • Review payroll and employee data to determine eligibility and calculate employer contributions.
  • Analyze and reconcile plan assets and deposits (where 3(16) services are performed).
  • Review and approve participant distribution, loan, and rollover contribution requests.
  • Prepare relevant informational and tax forms, including Form 5500, Form 8955-SSA, and Form 5330.
  • Consult with clients on plan errors and corrections under IRS and DOL programs.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to create and manage complex formulas to streamline plan administration – effectively prototyping and testing future platform builds.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to existing processes and client service practices.
  • Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
  • Partner with our product and engineering teams to develop tools to streamline servicing workflows and provide feedback to help improve our platform for advisors and their clients.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in 401(k) plan administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to build complex formulas.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Detail-oriented with a positive attitude and a desire to learn and grow.

Nice to Haves

  • ASPPA QKA (Qualified 401(k) Administrator) or higher certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with administration and reporting software.
  • Experience in consulting on plan design, explaining testing results, and reviewing plan administration and corrections with clients and advisors.
  • Ability to manage a book of business with seasonal deadlines based on IRS and Department of Labor regulations.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary and equity with potential for bonuses and incentives.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, added optional insurances.
  • Generous paid time off and holidays.
  • Remote work environment with all necessary technology and equipment provided.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
