Retirement Plan Service Representative

DeMars Pension Consulting Services, Inc.

Pension Consulting firm located in the Kansas City metro area is seeking a Retirement Plan Service Representative with experience in the small to medium-size client marketplace.  Our firm has been providing TPA services for qualified retirement plans for 45 years.  Ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, reliable and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the qualified plan market.  This is a full-time, on-site position in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Position Summary:

The Retirement Plan Service Representative is responsible for servicing qualified plan clients and their existing plans.  This includes delivery of Annual Valuations and managing operational aspects of the assigned case load of retirement plans, including phone contact, information gathering, annual compliance and testing cycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Daily communication via phone and email with clients, CPAs and Financial Advisors.
  2. Delivery of Annual Valuation reports which includes synopsis of the census, asset reconciliation and accrual participant account activity.  Obtaining Form 5500 signatures as needed.  Delivery of legal work for signature as requested.
  3. Review 401(k) enrollment materials and conduct 401(k) enrollment meetings.Meet with plan sponsor to educate on procedure involved in various plans, reporting salary reduction methods.  Also involved working with plan sponsor in developing electronic transfer through payroll provider.
  4. Census retrieval and assistance to plan administrator as needed.
  5. Overall technical familiarity with plan rules including compliance testing, including ADP/ACP discrimination testing, top heavy testing, 402(g) and 415 testing.
  6. Data gathering on takeover plans prior to turning over to a DeMars Pension Consulting plan administrator.
  7. Ability to handle caseload of small to medium-size clients with daily client contact as needed.  Maintain excellent client relationships and provide support to financial advisors as needed.
  8. Assist plan sponsor with transition of funds by preparing sample letter with transfer instructions.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in qualified plan market including Profit Sharing, 401(k), Cross-Tested, Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plans.
  2. Member of ASPPA (QPA, QKA) or interest in obtaining designations.
  3. Bachelor Degree preferred in Business or related field, or equivalent experience.
  4. Must be proficient with  Excel, Word, Outlook, Zoom or Teams.
  5. Must be highly motivated, self-starter who can work independently.
  6. Must be analytical with great attention to detail.
  7. Experience with Relius or ASC software is beneficial.
