Purpose of Position

The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) plays a pivotal role in the Definiti Distinguished Partners (DDP) program, fostering and enhancing relationships through exceptional service and strategic consultation. This position requires proactive communication, delivering key information, and equipping partners with insights, resources, and tools for effective retirement business management. Collaborating with Definiti's centers of excellence, the SAM aims to positively impact organizational revenue goals within the Distribution organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain lasting relationships with DDP advisors, influencing growth through strategic analyses and consultative solutions.
  • Craft and deliver proactive communications, updating DDP advisors on new products and services, emphasizing benefits for their clients.
  • Promote organic growth by recommending valuable solutions such as plan design alternatives, payroll integration, Cash Balance opportunities, 3(16) fiduciary services, and practice management tools.
  • Collaborate with recordkeeping partners to develop a thorough understanding of their strengths and product offerings.
  • Host periodic calls with the sales team to review DDP relationships and schedule meetings with Emerging DDPs to promote qualifying programs.
  • Serve as an advocate for DDPs by navigating Definiti centers of excellence to ensure swift solutions.
  • Spearhead projects improving the advisor experience through collaboration with key department stakeholders.
  • Acquire extensive knowledge of Definiti capabilities, tools, and marketing collateral, serving as a consultative resource for DDPs.
  • Execute proper handling of all confidential data in line with Definiti's cybersecurity policies.
  • Demonstrate alignment with Definiti’s Four Pillars: Operational Excellence, Customer Delight, Enhanced Employee Experience, and Sustained Business Value.

Requirements

Competencies Required

  • Ability to work independently and contribute to maintaining a highly cohesive team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, building rapport remotely with limited in-person interaction.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality work within tight time constraints.
  • Superior time management skills and CRM application experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including group presentation experience.
  • Sound business judgment, balancing client needs and organizational considerations.
  • Operate with discretion and integrity, making thoughtful and appropriate decisions under pressure.

Education and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent work experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry with proven success and direct experience in the advisor-sold retirement market.
  • Proficient MS skills including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to navigate web-based programs. 
  • Retirement-specific credentials preferred. 
  • Understanding of investments utilized in retirement programs.
  • CRM experience required (HubSpot a plus).

  • Accustomed to file-storage and file-sharing tools such as Microsoft SharePoint and Citrix ShareFile
