Job Summary

The Client Manager (CM) will serve as the primary day-to-day contact for a specified number of corporate retirement plan clients and is accountable for the delivery of a high-touch, high-quality service.  In addition, the CM will assist other team members in the management of the firm’s retirement plan relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle all day-to-day inquiries and service requests from assigned client base, responding to and resolving routine client questions or issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain 100% client retention
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of quarterly or semi-annual client meetings.  Includes coordination with 401(k) Team Leader, client committee, and vendors; review of all meeting materials; completion of post-meeting documentation and follow-ups
  • Assist plan participants with any questions or needs they may have. This may include conducting employee education meetings
  • Manage regular communication between all parties to maintain, develop and grow strong relationships (plan sponsor, recordkeeper, TPA, attorney, actuary)
  • Coordinate with outside business partners (recordkeepers, TPAs, DCIOs) to execute client requests and manage client issues to successful resolution
  • Maintain detailed notes/log of all interactions related to the clients and employees
  • Maintain appropriate client information in CRM system and oversight of documents on client portal
  • Proactively address outstanding issues; includes strategizing with 401(k) Team Leader to develop possible resolutions to avoid future issues
  • Manage internal team to assist with participant service requests
  • Conduct fee analyses, RFPs/RFIs, and benchmarking evaluations for clients
  • Assist assigned clients with all compliance matters including year-end testing, Form 5500, plan audits etc.

Education & Experience Required:

  •  Bachelor’s degree
  •  FINRA Series 65 license (Or obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • AIF, CPFA, QKA, or similar industry designation, or willingness to obtain a designation within 12 months of employment
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience with qualified retirement plans and industry vendors.  Includes familiarity with plan design & administration, vendor management, participant service/education, and investment management
  • 5+ years of client management experience, including comfort level with face-to-face interaction with client committees
  • Strong working knowledge of ERISA
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide non-technical explanations to technical matters; ability to summarize and present information in a clear, concise and accurate written and verbal format.
  • Strong understanding of investments and investment reports with the ability to explain this information to clients and participants.
  • Very high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • High degree of personal integrity
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environment, including adjusting to changing priorities in a small team-based environment
  • Familiarity with CRM programs and/or database management preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote)
  • Involves minimal travel; personal vehicle used for all regional travel (reimbursements included).  May include overnight travel based on plan/territory requirements.
