The Senior Manager of Qualified Plan Administration and Consulting (QPAC) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations, annual reporting, compliance and financial reporting of our QPAC group. The Senior Manager will lead a team ensuring accuracy and compliance in all QPAC activities, while providing expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders and clients. The professional in this role will be a QPAC subject matter expert to internal and external constituencies, and as such must possess strong leadership skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to navigate complex regulations to ensure the financial well-being and compliance of tax-qualified retirement plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the QPAC department
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Ensure accurate and timely compliance and financial reporting of tax-qualified retirement plans
  • Lead a team of retirement plan professionals and administrators providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as HR, tax, audit, and Legal, to support plan design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Review and analyze annual reporting, plan documents, and regulatory filings to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations, tax laws, and industry trends affecting tax-qualified retirement plans
  • Provide expertise and guidance on technical matters related to tax-qualified plans
  • Oversee the annual external audit process, liaising with auditors to provide necessary documentation and resolve any accounting or audit issues
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the QPAC department
  • Act as subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders and clients regarding tax-qualified plan matters
  • Consult with existing and prospective clients finding the right solutions for their retirement plan needs
  • Plan document design, integrating new and visionary options in proposed solutions
  • Manage a small caseload of plans which includes performing all aspects of annual administration and preparation of governmental reporting as well as assisting plan sponsors with plan provision and operational questions
  • Develop strategic and long-term relationships with financial advisors and qualified plan providers
  • Cultivate relationships within the firm in order to develop and identify new opportunities for the department

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in qualified plan administration & compliance, including 2+ years in a management, or other leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant accounting standards and tax regulations governing tax-qualified retirement plans (e.g., ERISA, IRS regulations).
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to effectively lead and develop a team to excellence.

Preferred:

  • CPA, QPA, QKA, ERPA or other relevant professional designation
