VP, General Manager (Retirement)

HowardSimon is seeking a General Manager to lead our retirement services business through our exciting growth journey.  

Reporting to the COO, the General Manager of HowardSimon Retirement will be responsible for functional leadership of the business, including P&L management, facilitating change management, driving growth, and embodying our key value of “Stronger Together” in conjunction with senior leadership from across Strongpoint Partners. This role will have the unique opportunity to lead a successful Chicago-based business, while also leveraging the scale and brand of Strongpoint across the country.

This is a hybrid opportunity for someone to have an on-site presence in our Riverwoods/Chicago-based office.

Core Responsibilities 

• Manage the business P&L performance to achieve growth objectives  
• Drive growth initiatives across the business, leveraging organizational support, including sales infrastructure and pricing tools  
• Identify opportunities for operating efficiency gains through management insights, collaboration with other leaders, and leveraging operational best practices from across the industry and across Strongpoint Partners  
• Optimize team design, continuity planning, opportunity identification for top performers, and workflow/project design to maximize the return on people investments  
• Coach and mentor rising General Managers from across the business as they learn the Strongpoint Way  
• Embody the Strongpoint ethos of Stronger Together by leveraging the collective expertise of our Strongpoint GMs, Founders, and Leaders  
• Build and maintain effective relationships and processes to provide seamless execution of initiatives  

Qualifications 

• 10+ years leading teams, including managing managers 
• 5+ years experience in the retirement plan third party administration industry 
• Previous P&L responsibility 
• 5+ years in financial services with customer facing responsibilities 
• Experience specific to retirement planning 
• Curiosity and desire to learn 
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to manage up, down, and across 
• Experience on the revenue generation and operational sides of the business 
• Ability to communicate and present effectively across all areas of the organization 
• Convey strong organizational skills with an ability to manage and prioritize multiple business objectives and projects with the proper sense of urgency
