As the primary point of contact for our valued customers, you'll be responsible for establishing strong client relationships and positioning yourself as the go-to expert for all things related to plan administration.

Your mission is to ensure efficient plan operation, client satisfaction, and long-term retention. This entails not only adhering to the provisions outlined in each plan document but also mastering the intricate details buried within the legal plan documentation.

As a Retirement Plan Consultant, your duties encompass:

  • Understanding the nuances within each plan's provisions and navigating complex compliance testing requirements.
  • Taking necessary corrective actions, which may include asset distribution, contributions, or plan document amendments, to ensure compliance.
  • Prioritizing tasks to meet compliance-based deadlines, such as annual census reporting, testing, and assisting clients with various regulatory requirements.
  • Anticipating client needs, addressing concerns promptly, and applying your expertise to uphold compliance with plan documentation, IRS and DOL guidance, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Recognizing and fulfilling fiduciary duties required for plan administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of retirement plan administration, serving as the single point of contact.
  • Deliver top-notch customer service, resolving issues with minimal disruption to clients.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise, and informative manner.
  • Assist clients with initial and ongoing plan design and document support.
  • Ensure clients meet IRS and Department of Labor deadlines for qualified retirement plans.
  • Stay updated on current and proposed ERISA legislation through self-study and company-sponsored training sessions.
  • For Defined Benefit (DB) plans, coordinate actuarial valuation reports, participant statements, Annual Funding Notices, and AFTAP preparation.
  • Review or conduct annual combined plan testing for combo clients.
  • Review benefit calculations and distribution paperwork.
  • Prepare or review Form 5500 and collaborate with plan sponsors to ensure timely filing.
  • For DB plans, prepare annual PBGC premium filings and assist with termination filings.
  • Assist auditors in case of an annual plan audit.
  • Collaborate with IRS, DOL, and PBGC auditors under the Compliance Team's guidance when necessary.
  • Ensure a smooth takeover process for new clients, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to match prior valuations.
  • If applicable, work with Enrolled Actuary or independently oversee activities for timely and accurate completion of a substantial client portfolio.
  • Reconcile plan assets by working with Recordkeeper data in various formats and systems.
  • Perform annual compliance testing for assigned clients (e.g., 402(g), 415(c), 410(b), ADP/ACP, Plan Limits, Top Heavy, etc.).
  • Prepare and file IRS Forms (5500 series, 5330, 1099R, and related schedules).
  • Calculate employer plan contributions using various allocation methods.
  • Support retirement plan implementation, conversion, de-conversion, and termination processes.
  • Continuously seek process and service improvements, while maintaining client and plan data in line with administrative electronic protocols.
  • Safeguard confidential data, ensuring its protection, security, and proper handling to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of ERISA defined benefit and defined contribution experience in the retirement industry.
  • Proficiency in financial data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Traditional Defined Benefit and Cash Balance Plans.
  • Experience with ASC, ftwilliam, Relius, or Datair software and PensionPal or PensionPro.
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage tasks in line with business operations, including ERISA compliance matters.

If you're a seasoned professional looking to join a dynamic team and make a significant impact in the retirement plan administration field, we encourage you to apply. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping our clients secure their financial futures.
