# of Positions Type: 1

Category: Insurance/Benefits/Pension/Retirement - Associate Benefits Specialist

External Description

Associate Benefits Specialist

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world seeks an experienced Associate Benefits Specialist for the Delta Master Executive Council (MEC) Office in Atlanta, representing over 15,000 pilots flying for Delta. The Associate Benefits Specialist provides professional support to the pilot group concerning their company- and union-sponsored employee benefit programs, including retirement (defined benefit and defined contribution), disability, health (medical, dental, vision, and account-based programs), life, and AD&D programs. They may advise the pilot group's Master Executive Council (MEC) R&I Committee; be an in-house consultant to other MEC committees in the area of employee benefits; and, as a daily contact for individual pilots, provide information and assistance in the benefits area. They work with the company to resolve benefit issues for members and may participate in seminars for pilots nearing retirement throughout the DAL system. Under close supervision or working with more experienced personnel in the MEC Office or ALPA National Office, and within the limitations of Association policy, they handle a variety of assignments and provide assistance to pilot governing bodies and to individual members on all subjects that affect their benefits program. Because they work with members of the MEC, MEC committees, and other ALPA staff to provide the required benefit consulting expertise for the member or project under consideration, they will have an understanding of benefits, current trends and legislation (or have a willingness to learn), and will be expected to maintain knowledge in these areas.

Local and national travel: 5 - 10 %.
