DC Consultant Administrator

Overview of the Position:

A boutique Southern California firm is looking for a remote Senior Defined Contribution Consultant to manage a block of retirement plans belonging to 2 advisors. We will provide you with a home office set-up including a computer and a phone.
We need a critical thinker with a well rounded background willing to assist with plan onboarding, creating plan documents, trust accounting, compliance testing, contribution allocations, preparation of Form 5500, client interaction and billing.  We also want someone with the ability to talk pension in a way our clients can understand so can feel comfortable they are in good hands.

Experience with Datair is a plus however we are currently exploring moving to another platform so any vendor proficiency is welcome.

What You will Be Doing:

  • This is a client facing role so you will be maintaining all aspects of the client relationship
  • Responsible for a caseload of approximately 90 single and multi-location plans with 2 to 1000 participant  
  • Performing escalated work product review for other team members
  • Managing and prioritizing your workload
  • Effectively communicates the necessary regulatory information and testing requirements to clients in a way that can be easily understood by individuals who are not in the business.
  • Reviews, interprets and maintains the legal plan documents in order to assist clients in ensuring plan compliance with current IRS/DOL regulations.
  • Remains current with the laws and regulations for retirement plan administration.
  • Works with internal and external associates to ensure accurate and timely response to all outstanding client/plan issues

About You:

  • Ten or more years of 401(k) plan administration experience
  • NIPA or ASPPA credentials a plus
  • College degree a plus
  • Superior knowledge of ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy and 401(a)(4) non-discrimination testing
  • Superior knowledge of 401(a)4 and controlled group testing; mergers and acquisitions experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to proactively and independently manage a book of business
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High level of critical thinking skills
