Summary

Pension Plan Specialists is looking for our next great employee! Our company offers Third Party Administration (TPA) services. We administer roughly 3,000 retirement plans ranging from small plans to companies with hundreds of employees. Most of our clients sponsor 401(k) plans, but we also administer profit sharing, ESOP, prevailing wage and defined benefit plans.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Complete compliance testing
  • Participant trust accounting and reconciliation
  • Preparation of Form 5500 and supporting schedules
  • Creative plan consulting to share ideas and solutions the client is seeking
  • Regular client contact to address questions and concerns as well as request information necessary to properly complete the testing and administration of the plan
  • Assist with and provide backup for other accounting functions as needed
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Economics ; or equivalent experience

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of basic accounting
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office products)
  • Attention to detail
  • Great organizational skills and the ability to work both efficiently and expeditiously without compromising on accuracy
  • Self-motivated and results oriented
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, all at different stages of the process
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience using ASC is a plus! (Hybrid or fully remote options for advanced ASC skills)
    • Without ASC experience, this is an in-office role

About the company

Pension Plan Specialists, a full-service third-party administration (TPA) firm based in Vancouver, Washington was formed in 2008. At that time, its current owner and President Joseph Burt purchased a local Public Accounting firm that was started in 1987 and had transitioned its business to doing 401(k) audits and then eventually Retirement Plan Administration. Joe saw the potential for the company and its clients and PPS came into being. Since its inception over 35 years ago, PPS has worked hard to earn the trust and confidence of its clients.
