The Attorney will work closely with the Central Pension Fund’s General Counsel in handling the Fund’s day-to-day legal matters, which includes advising various departments within the Central Pension Fund and handling issues related to ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code. An ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess exemplary research, writing, and analytical skills. The position also requires excellent communication skills, as well as a demonstrated commitment to retirement income security and the labor movement.
Typical duties include: assisting with the drafting and reviewing of plan documents to ensure compliance with ERISA and IRC qualification requirements; assisting with the drafting and reviewing of policies and procedures relating to plan administration; assisting with the review and negotiation of service provider agreements, including investment management documents; in consultation with the General Counsel, providing legal advice to the Board of Trustees on all aspects of plan administration; assisting with monitoring the Fund’s employer delinquency control program; advising Fund personnel on plan interpretation matters, as well as reporting and disclosure obligations.
Qualifications:
The Central Pension Fund offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes employer-paid health, life, and disability insurance, as well as paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Applications by both experienced attorneys and recent graduates will be considered, with job title and salary commensurate with experience.
