G&S has been exclusively engaged by the Investment Company Institute, which was formed 75+ years ago to support the asset management industry, to recruit an ERISA attorney at the Assistant or Associate GC level (dependent upon years of experience) to be based in its DC headquarters or Boston office. If you are interested in the intersection of pension and retirement plan legal issues and policy work as they pertain to the asset management industry, then this could be your ideal position.
The organization seeks an attorney with a solid knowledge of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code rules, and other regulations governing retirement savings plans (e.g., 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, and individual retirement accounts), as well as the investment vehicles and products used in these plans. You will help coordinate and integrate the Law Department’s efforts with the organization’s research, government affairs, operations and strategic communications functions. An understanding of mutual funds, collective investment trusts and separate accounts is highly valued. Requirements include an excellent writing ability with high attention to detail, strong member services skills, and a proven ability to advocate positions, obtain consensus, and influence outcomes.
Selling Points:
**The ideal candidate will come from: The Federal Government (Dept. of Labor, Employment Benefits Administration, Dept. of Treasury, Office of Benefits Tax Counsel, IRS, Division of Employee Plans, or IRS, Chief Counsel’s Office), a Corporate Legal Dept., or a law firm with leading ERISA Practice.
