About Cheiron: Cheiron is a rapidly growing employee-owned actuarial and financial consulting firm that is focused on providing health and pension actuarial consulting services to our clients (multiemployer, public sector, and some corporate). Our mission is to empower benefit plan sponsors to understand and better manage their benefit programs and their resulting financial risks. About 100 employees work at Cheiron across the continental US at nine different office locations. Position Summary: The Legislative and Regulatory Advisor will provide but not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Work with Chief Research Counsel and the Chief Research Actuary to provide advice on regulatory and compliance matters to health and pension consultants and analysts.
  • Monitor important legislative and regulatory developments in the health and pension areas and provide updates, as needed, to consultants.
  • Confer with colleagues to formulate positions and strategies pertaining to pending issues related to pension and health benefits.
  • Maintain current knowledge base of existing and emerging regulations, standards, or guidance documents relating to health and pension benefits.
  • Coordinate, as requested, efforts associated with the preparation of regulatory submissions.
  • Review client and company contracts, including corporate leases, copyright agreements, vendor agreements, consulting agreements, business associate agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Assist with FOIA requests
  • Assist with legal aspects of all corporate matters, including human resources, recruiting, EEO, affirmative action, company benefits issues and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Assist NQTL team conducting mental health parity reviews
  • Assist with corporate litigation and legal matters.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university plus a juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Five years of experience with health and pension matters is a plus.

Expected Hours of Work: You are expected to work 7.50 hours per day, Monday through Friday, during our normal business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. However, because of the nature of our business your work schedule may vary depending on client needs.

Travel: As employee moves into a Legislative and Regulatory Advisor role, will be required to travel periodically to attend various meetings or conferences concerning legislative changes and/or clarifications impacting health and pension law or Cheiron training meetings.
