SVP, Insurance & Nonqualified Retirement Plan Sales

We have an exceptional position for a seasoned sales professional with significant COLI sales experience to lead a sales team to growing Newport’s distribution of non-qualified retirement plan services, institutional life insurance programs (COLI, BOLI, ICOLI, etc.) and fiduciary services by developing, directing, monitoring, and coordinating the activities of a professional team, devising, and implementing strategies for growth and developing critical sales relationships. Develops and implements a sales and marketing strategy, increases profitable opportunities and sales through intermediary partners, contributes to product development ideas and service delivery enhancements for plan sponsors. In conjunction with the leadership team across other Newport/Ascensus business lines, the candidate will execute cross-selling initiatives with specific objectives and metrics for measurement.

This position can be remote from any of the lower 48 states.

  • Achieves monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
  • Establishes a team culture that promotes overachievement and exceeds revenue goals.
  • Manages expenses within budget and travel policy guidelines
  • Ensures timely updates of customer relationship management system (CRM)
  • Works with a best-of-class sales organization that consistently meets/exceeds revenue targets while providing high touch service to clients and partners.
  • Significantly increases sales revenues by finding high level opportunities and allowing the sales team to execute
  • Ensures team successfully establishes and cultivates RIA Networks, Broker/Dealer Networks, TPAs, Custodial relationships/partnerships, wire houses, consulting firms and other referral sources.
  • Directs involvement with selling into major clients; sales presentations to top-tier management and other critical partners and clients.
  • Uses extensive knowledge and expertise, directs team through negotiating deals.
  • Articulates our website technologies and the total suite of product offerings including those offered by our Ascensus and Newport partners.
  • Champions the sales and business development initiatives.
  • Represents the company at conferences and trade shows, maintaining a high visibility role in the industry.
  • Provides retirement plan and sales expertise to team as needed.
  • Develops and utilizes key metrics to drive the business forward
  • Multi-tasks and works effectively in a fast-paced Sales and team environment
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

Management Responsibilities

  • Manages and develops a high performing team through implementation of effective recruitment, training, performance management, motivation, and coaching
  • Leads and engages employees in a positive and professional manner where inclusion and diversity of thought are leveraged for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Works with employee to set and execute employee SMART goals/objectives
  • Manages direct reports according to Newport policy
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in insurance or retirement plan sales
  • 5+ years of sales management experience
  • In-depth knowledge of nonqualified retirement plans, COLI and BOLI required.
  • Deep relationships with wirehouses, consulting firms, accounting firms, BGAs, etc.
  • Experience in building a network of loyal, long term relationships
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing high performing sales teams

TRAVEL:  Up to 50%.

The national average salary range for this role is $150k-200k in base pay only, exclusive of any bonuses and benefits. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, performance, and internal pay alignment. We do not anticipate that candidates hired will begin at the top of the range however, from time to time, it may occur on a case-by-case basis.  Other rewards and benefits may include: 401(k) match, Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid-Time-Off, etc. For more information, please visit careers.ascensus.com/#Benefits.
