Great Lakes Pension Associates, Inc. is once again looking to expand our talented staff with quality individuals.  With over 600 plans and adding sixty to eighty new plans per year, there are ample opportunities for well experienced individuals.  We prefer individuals who have attained designations with the American Society of Pension Professionals.  Experience working for a Third Party Administrative firm is required.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties:

  • Ensure client retirement plans are serviced in a proactive and timely manner
  • Maintain a caseload of DC plans and perform all functions of administration including eligibility/vesting determination, contribution calculations, account and contribution reconciliation and compliance testing.
  • Read and interpret plans documents.  Consult and make recommendations regarding plan design improvements to meet client objectives.
  • Use technical knowledge to identify and resolve plan compliance issues (both operational and document)

  • ASC Document System
  • Pension Pro Workflow software

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Over six years of retirement plan administration including managing a book of business
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA), Qualified 401(K) administrator (QKA) designation(s)
  • Ability to work independently to organize tasks, prioritize projects and manage deadlines for an assigned caseload
  • Able to perform new comparability contribution calculations and understand and perform 401(a)(4) testing
  • Understanding of Controlled Group/Affiliated Service Groups Issues
  • Math aptitude and ability to balance numbers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues, sponsors, and advisors
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of ERISA, IRS and DOL rules and regulations
