We are seeking a knowledgeable, team-oriented Relationship Manager for our Retirement Plan Consulting Team. This position is customer service focused.  You’ll be the day-to-day contact for clients and responsible for plan service questions and participant questions about their employer’s plan.

The Relationship Manager will be the lead service team member with the ultimate responsibility of overall client satisfaction and retention for all assigned clients.  The Relationship Manager must possess the skills and experience to provide proactive retirement plan client service, plan design, investment review preparation, employee education and consulting work while managing overall client relationships.  In addition to being the key contact for clients regarding the management of their retirement plans, the Relationship Manager provides assistance to the team in securing new clients and participates in generating additional fee-based revenue.   


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior management in the client’s organization to ensure retention of the business
  • Serve as an internal client advocate looking after the best interest of clients and participants and providing expert problem resolution that builds trust, credibility and loyalty with clients and participants.
  • Assist Sales team - participating in prospect meetings and/or final presentations
  • Coordinates relationship management activities with the sales, marketing, legal, investments and other internal functional areas
  • Review and interpret plan document provisions
  • Answering a wide variety of client questions related to retirement plan administration and participant inquiries on a daily basis.
  • Regularly conduct one-on-one account consultations and small group presentations in person or web based.
  • Conduct orientation meetings for new participants.
  • Facilitate enrollments, rollovers, and other participant requests.
  • Effectively resolve customer needs in a way that strengthens the relationship.


  • 2+ years’ of retirement plan related industry experience. 
  • 2+ years’ of professional, retirement plan client management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree - preferably in business accounting or finance or equivalent education or work experience.
  • Expertise in Defined Contribution and/or Defined Benefit plan consulting
  • Ability to travel 10% to 25%
  • Experience working with client senior management and Board members
  • Comfortable training clients and working through issues with clients and with plan participants
  • Strong understanding of ERISA and industry related laws and regulations
  • NAPA or other industry specific designations preferred
