ESOP Analyst

Newport

Job Summary: Responsible for reviewing plan census information, determining eligibility and performing administration and testing for ESOP plans. 

Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Updates all information into recordkeeping system and performs quality control audit.
  • Allocates investment gains/losses, employer contributions and forfeitures, and reconciliation of trust assets.
  • Prepares and reviews Form 5500 and related schedules.
  • Performs compliance testing under code sections 404, 415, 410(b), and 416.
  • Communicates test results and recommends solutions to client when specific failures are identified.
  • Maintains current awareness and understanding of legislative changes, IRS rulings, and expert opinions related to the processing of retirement plans.
  • Researches new issues to determine their impact on plan qualification status
  • Consistently meets and/or exceeds performance expectations with the ability to work under pressure in a very fast paced environment
  • Focuses on learning in everyday activities and events
  • Collaborates with and openly shares knowledge with colleagues
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance 

Management Responsibilities (none) 

Required Education, Experience and Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of related experience in the administration of retirement plans
  • Related ESOP experience
  • Proficient using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe/Foxit
  • Advanced knowledge of retirement plan tax laws (ERISA) including Revenue Code sections 404, 415, 410(b), and 416

Preferred (but not required) education or skills for this role are

  • ASPPA or CEBS preferred
  • Experience in Relius a plus
