Overview

The Retirement Industry Trust Association is a national trade association comprised of banks, trust companies and third-party administrators administering self-directed retirement accounts holding alternative assets.  We are looking to hire a part time, remote Membership Director to boost our Membership.  The Membership Director needs to be an assertive salesperson.  Travel is limited to 2 conferences a year. Job Summary (Essential Functions)

The Membership Director is responsible for implementing RITA’s membership growth and retention strategy which aligns with RITA’s strategic objectives. The Membership Director is responsible for leading the development, implementation and evaluation of membership growth strategies, as well as the day-to-day management of RITA’s member engagement. Engages directly with prospects to recruit new members and with existing members to deliver the highest level of service and value. Works with the Membership Committee to build a strong membership culture within the Association; works closely with the Executive Director and Board to achieve the goals of RITA membership. 

  • Leads the association’s efforts to recruit, retain and engage membership.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director, Membership Committee, association staff and key members to:
  • Create a roadmap for sustainable membership growth;
    • Establish short- and long-range plans and goals to achieve organization membership objectives;
    • Outline a data-driven member engagement, retention, and recruitment strategy and implementation plan;
    • Develop strategies and programs to stimulate membership recruitment and engagement as a means of membership renewal.
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance member benefits and services offered by the Association.
  • Develop strategies to measure and strengthen member engagement.
  • Actively works with prospects to answer membership-related questions and completion of the application.
  • Works with staff and members to develop, solicit and manage feedback on RITA membership surveys, programs and services.
  • Oversight of all membership, data, tracking and reporting, including but not limited to:
    • Accurate membership records, register and historical files
    • Recruitment, retention and termination reports
    • Current, new, and terminated member information
    • Member experience throughout join and renewal process
  • Works with Executive Director to set annual membership goals, plus provides weekly and monthly reports for tracking of new prospects pipeline progress.
  • Works with association support staff and vendors to create membership marketing collateral.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in sales/ membership recruitment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in growing membership/customers and strengthening membership/customer retention.
  • An understanding of the financial services industry preferred.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills with stakeholders, anticipate needs, determine priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
  • Stellar verbal and written communication skills are required in order to interact effectively with organization members and prospects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to high level service.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively.
  • Ability to participate in monthly staff and Board meetings, as well as travel to participate/present at RITA conferences.
