Sunwest Pensions is seeking an experienced Client Relationship Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for being the primary contact to plan sponsors, participants and financial advisors.  The ideal candidate will have defined benefit and defined contribution plan administration experience, strong attention to detail, and superior customer service skills. The candidate must also have excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills. 

Qualification requirements consist of:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to timely and effectively communicate with plan sponsors, plan participants, and financial advisors
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in 401(k) and defined benefit plan administration
  • Proficient in MS Office products, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Understand basic accounting principles: math, formulas, balancing/reconciliations, and daily trades
  • Positive attitude and client dedication
  • Detail-oriented person with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Strong time management capabilities
  • SRT/ASC/PensionPro experience is a plus
  • ASPPA/NIPA designations are a plus

Responsibilities consist of but are not limited to:

  • Communicate directly with employers, plan participants, and advisors to maintain a high level of customer service and obtain plan information for valuations, compliance, distributions, loans, website, etc.
  • Monitor and oversee service delivery to sponsors and participants
  • Ability to review census data, determine eligibility, vesting, HCE/key employee status, etc.
  • Perform simple calculations such as matching, safe harbor non-elective, and pro-rata profit sharing
  • Understand all compliance testing and contribution calculations and able to effectively communicate results
  • Communicate the importance of the Form 5500 / 5500SF and necessary schedules
  • Read and interpret plan documents and IRS/DOL/PBGC regulations
  • Compile annual audit packages for large plan filers including reconciling Plan Assets to custodial / trust statements and preparing financial reports
