Purpose of Position

We are seeking an Actuarial Consultant with experience working with small market cash balance defined benefit pension plans.  The primary focus will be on cash balance pension plans with less than 100 participants including plans that are combined for testing purposes with a defined contribution plan.  You will be working closely with a team of enrolled actuaries and direct client relationships with some clients is expected.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Request, organize, and review participant data for reasonableness
• Review the asset information for the plan
• Review the Plan document and establish plan specifications in our ASC valuation system
• Run annual valuation using valuation software and review for reasonableness
• Check valuation results and present to the actuary for discussion and review
• Prepare benefit calculations for terminated and retiring participants
• Prepare benefit certifications including calculation of all optional forms of payment
• Required Minimum Distribution calculations
• Draft government filings (Form 5500s, Schedule SB, PBGC premiums, 8955-SSA)
• Annual regulatory compliance checks

Education and Qualifications

• College Degree required or 5 years experience in lieu of education
• 3+ years of prior work experience in the defined benefit plan business
• Proficient with ASC actuarial valuation system is a plus

• Position in a professional, smoke-free, team environment

Travel Requirements

• Minimal travel, no to exceed 10%
