Position Overview
This full-time position is open for hiring in 2021 in order to add a key individual to our compliance team. It is anticipated that the role will focus on support for internal staff, handle compliance items for plans sponsored by employer clients, and provide other support for client employers and partner advisors. For the position, ProBenefits seeks an individual who performs effectively in a business environment, is challenged by the employee benefits industry, and is interested in a compliance advisory role. Necessary strengths include: (1) written and verbal communication; (2) analytical ability, including statutory and regulatory interpretation; (3) ability to work with others in a team environment; (4) personal organization; (5) technology proficiency; (6) problem solving and ability to resolve conflicts and other sensitive matters; and (7) effectiveness in individual or group presentations.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree and a law degree (JD). Formal employee benefits or health care experience is preferred, but not required. Compliance advisory experience is desired. Licensure by the North Carolina State Bar is not required, although formal legal training or licensure with the state bar of at least one state is desired. The individual must be in good standing with the state bar of any state(s) for which licensure has previously been sought or obtained.
This position will involve work internally with staff members and management as well as externally with clients and business contacts. The position is designed for work to be primarily at the home office, but the company is open to considering a full-time remote work arrangement. Flexibility and modifications for remote work are understood, particularly during the remainder of the COVID-19 era. Outside of COVID-19, occasional travel may be required for meetings, presentations, or conferences. Travel is expected to be minimal but will depend in part on business demand.
This position requires the individual to stay aware of industry developments to be an effective compliance resource for staff and clients. The company will provide resources to assist with that responsibility, and the company encourages continuing education and professional development.

Position Status, Schedule, & Compensation
This is a salaried position, exempt from eligibility for overtime pay. Standard hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Extended hours are not normally required but will be necessary in periods of high work volume. As reflected above, work may include some amount of travel involving extended hours and occasional overnight stays.
Compensation includes an annual salary plus an extensive employee benefits package, including (1) paid days off for vacation and sick leave, (2) company-paid health, life, and disability insurance, (3) Health Savings Account, including employer contributions, and (4) a 401(k) retirement plan option, including employer matching contributions. Bonus compensation is available based on individual and company performance as well as other opportunities.
