Job Description:                Relationship Manager/ Consultant - Remote


We are now seeking candidates for the position of Relationship Manager / Consultant to work on our team of retirement plan professionals to support the service needs of our plan sponsors, participants and their investment advisors. This position is a remote position and you will work from a home office.

The successful candidate for this position will be service driven and responsible for building and maintaining long-term customer relationships.  As a member of a small company focused on customer satisfaction, they must be innovative, self-motivated, and efficient. 

This position is responsible for overseeing the workflow of the retirement plans assigned. This includes peer review of the plan administration processes, compliance testing, annual valuations, Form 5500 reporting, plan documents, and other compliance requirements as needed.  The Relationship Manager will serve as the primary internal representative of our firm to our client base.  They will interact daily with clients and participants, accountants, attorneys, investment advisors and others on the plans we support.  These interactions will be through virtual meetings, phone calls and/or email communications.  Client connections will be monitored through all mediums to ensure company standards are followed and the success of the candidate.

This is a telecommuting position and task completion will be highly monitored.  Applicant will be expected to be at work Monday through Friday each week during the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm CST. Advanced Benefits Consulting will furnish all equipment necessary to perform this role, but the applicant will be required to supply an adequate workspace with a sufficient internet connection, execute our Telecommuter Agreement, and adhere to our policy for privacy and data security.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain client and advisor relationships with a high client retention rate
  • Manage workflow to meet team goals and company performance standards
  • Superior client service and ability to consult with clients regarding plan operation and design
  • Proactively communicate with clients and investment advisors about new industry developments
  • Work with other team members, recordkeepers and advisor to ensure a great client experience
  • Perform work according to ABC policies and procedures
  • Review and approve annual contribution calculations and valuations including ADP/ACP, other non-discrimination testing, Form 5500 and other government forms
  • Clearly communicate to the client and advisor on the complexities of plan designs and deadlines (funding, 5500, PBGC, amendments, etc.)


  • Five or more years of defined contribution plan experience required with defined benefit plan experience a major plus, 
  • Excellent knowledge of ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy and 401(a)(4) non-discrimination testing
  • Working knowledge of cash balance plans, including hypothetical allocations, top heavy requirements, minimum and maximum funding requirements
  • General understanding of actuarial valuations
  • General knowledge of PBGC coverage and its requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • High level of critical thinking
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • ASPPA designations or courses will be considered favorable and experience with Datair, PensionPro, and/or a plus
  • Excellent technology skills including Office, Zoom/Teams, etc.
  • Committed to lifelong learning and coachable
  • NIPA or ASPPA credentials
  • College degree or other relevant work experience
  • Experience working in a telecommuting environment a plus
