Plan Document ERISA Attorney

Due to expansion in our Plan Document area, ASC is seeking a self-motivated attorney experienced in drafting and supporting various retirement plan document types, including pre-approved §401(a) defined contribution and defined benefit plans, pre-approved §403(b) plans and §457 plans. While the position requires a wide range of expertise, experience in all areas is not required.  Willingness to expand your knowledge base is important. The position offers great growth potential.

Job location may be telecommuting, or if preferred, working from our Los Angeles, CA office.  This full-time position is 37.5 hours per week.  Benefits include flexible hours, medical and dental insurance, 401(k) and 125 plans, PTO, continuing education/conference attendance, and home office costs.  Travel may be required a few times a year.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in drafting and updating plan document provisions, checklists, forms, notices and other ancillary materials for plan documents offered by ASC.
  • Work with our Plan Document Support staff in responding to client requests for consultation via ASC’s Silver Support and DGEM Support. 
  • Work with our Plan Document Support staff in responding to client requests with regard to the DGEM System.
  • Assist the ASC software development team in implementing and enhancing the ASC DGEM Plan Document system.
  • Develop and present ASC webcasts and other training sessions on regulatory topics.
  • Draft ASC newsletters on relevant plan document topics.
  • Work with our established sales and marketing team to grow the ASC business.
  • Complete various other tasks and projects as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

  • Broad knowledge of retirement plans, IRS and ERISA regulations.
  • Excellent research, writing, presentation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be pro-active, self-motivated, be able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience with the DGEM system is helpful, but not required.
  • Years of experience required: Minimum of 5 years in ERISA and employee benefits areas.
