Position Summary

Primary responsibilities include providing consulting services to Ascensus internal and external clients, technical research & analysis, conducting training seminars to internal or external clients and special projects as assigned.

Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide consulting on retirement plan or IRA technical topics via the phones to internal and external clients.
  • Research and provide updates on ERISA and regulatory guidance that may impact our plan sponsors and our internal processes and procedures
  • Prepare technical communications for internal and external use
  • Draft forms and documents applicable to retirement plan or IRA processing
  • Assist with complex retirement compliance projects (document restatements, IRS correction programs, etc)
  • Complete protected benefit and plan design reviews and consult with client regarding such
  • Effectively collaborate with team members to facilitate team objectives
  • Interact with business partners, sales consultants, team colleagues and other personnel as needed to answer ERISA or regulatory compliance consulting questions and complete assigned projects by deadlines
  • Provide training on a variety of ERISA subjects related to qualified retirement plans including defined contribution, defined benefit, 403(b), and 457(b) plans and/or also IRAs to internal or external clients.
  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned

Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree REQUIRED
  •  CPA, MBA, JD or PMP preferred but not required
  • Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Outlook and MS Office software applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Capable of working with others in a collaborative team environment
  • Able to multitask, shift priorities, and work under pressure with competing deadlines
  • Able to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in written form
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret general business and technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Able to respond effectively to questions from internal and external clients
  • Detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and PC skills
  • Preferred Designations from ASPPA or NIPA
  • This position may include 10%-30% travel
