Field Services Representative

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

in Kansas City MO / Dallas TX / Austin TX / Houston TX / Little Rock AR

Locations:  Two positions/territories open

  • Texas
  • Missouri and Arkansas

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

Description:

These benefits professional positions provide service to the NRECA membership by promoting, consulting, explaining and enhancing participation in NRECA's Insurance & Financial Services (I&FS) sponsored group benefits plans and retirement benefits plans.

Candidates should have extensive employee benefits experience in collaborating and working with individuals and employers to build lasting professional relationships.  Candidates must reside in the respective territory or be willing to relocate.

The field services representatives play a key “local” benefits consulting role with member cooperatives on behalf of I&FS specifically, and NRECA generally, throughout their assigned territory.  General responsibilities include: service of cooperative-specific group and retirement programs, benefit and plan design consulting, product marketing, and employee education.

Field territories are part of two multi-state regions headed by field directors.  Field directors provide mentoring, coaching and ongoing supervision and direction to the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the I&FS relationship with each member co-op within the assigned geographical territory.
  • Prepare and make presentations to co-op management, boards, and to employees about group insurance benefits, retirement plans and a broad array of NRECA services. This position requires professional and technical knowledge relative to all group employee benefits plans, defined benefit retirement plans, defined contribution benefit plans and non-qualified employee benefits and total compensation strategies.
  • Maintain and grow employee benefits product penetration within the territory.
  • Present and discuss member group renewal information annually.
  • Educate co-op management and employees about all features, benefits and advantages of NRECA employee benefits products and services to maximize the added value of the NRECA business model for all participants.
  • Establish a schedule of periodic cooperative visits on a regular, predictable basis.  This scheduling would also include statewide meetings, NRECA regional meetings, the NRECA Annual Meeting and INTERACT conferences
  • Provide I&FS with creative and strategic input into product development and overall planning activities from the member co-op perspective.
  • Maintain professional licensure.  Meet or exceed all applicable continuing education requirements.
  • Extensive travel up to 80-90% of the time in the field territory with periodic meetings in Arlington, VA and other sites outside of the assigned territory.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Professional designation including CLU, ChFC, CFP, CFA, CEBS or other similar designations within the employee benefits field preferred.
  • Life and Health license preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of combined experience in group benefits and/or qualified and non-qualified retirement programs sales and service preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to a variety of “customers” from the board room and to the shop floor.
  • Extraordinary organizational skills, communication/presentation skills and analytical skills.
