Rockland Trust is seeking a Retirement Plan Services, Financial Consultant based out of our Somerset, MA office.  This exciting opportunity will focus on educating and advising our growing Qualified Retirement Plan book of business.  The primary responsibilities of this role are to meet with new and existing 401(k) participants in order to help them make suitable investment and financial planning decisions. The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable with public speaking and proficient at creating and updating investment content for presentations to be delivered to clients.  Incumbent will be expected to maintain a clean compliance record and perform all duties in accordance with established policies, procedures and objectives of the department and the bank.   Given the nature of this role and working closely with other departments, its important be a team player to ensure consistency and collaboration.  This role requires travel visiting clients and Rockland Trust offices within our footprint.  No overnight travel is required. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct 401(k) Enrollment and Educational Sessions.  These may take place via webinar, on an individual (one on one) basis or group session
  • Create and update relevant presentations on financial wellness that are suitable to 401(k) participants.   Topics should range from budgeting and paying down debt to saving for your child’s educational expenses to how to build an asset allocation strategy that is right for you and retirement income planning strategies
  • Accompany Retirement Plan Relationship Managers to clients in order to discuss and develop a strategy for education unique to each client (timeframe and format of educational sessions to take place, topics that would be most useful, etc)
  • Work with the various retirement plan service providers to organize communications that can be useful so clients are receiving relevant information at opportune times
  • Partner with Retail and Commercial Financial Consultants as needed 
  • Review plan metrics with Relationship Managers to help identify areas where further education may be beneficial
  • Assist Relationship Managers in their duties servicing and communicating with prospects and customers
  • Investment expertise is a must (CFP designation would be welcomed) and retirement expertise is preferred, but is not required if the candidate is willing to learn

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years work experience, 2 of which are in a sales or a marketing role within the financial services industry. Securities licenses series 6 and 63 are required at a minimum with RIA (series 65/66) strongly encouraged. Insurance (Life) license required within 6 months.
