Retirement Documents Specialist

This position is located in our Charlotte, NC office.  This is not a remote opportunity. 

Job Summary:       Preparing plan documents and providing assistance with plan provision questions from clients and internal staff. Leading document calls with clients and advisors. Assisting with other assigned duties such as IRS VCP filings. 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze prospective clients’ plan documents, including 401(k), profit sharing, and 403(b), for potential takeover.
  • Review new client plan documentation and draft appropriate documents for conversion. 
  • Draft plan amendments for all products, as requested by clients.
  • Draft and review summary plan descriptions (SPD) and summary of material modifications (SMM) as plans are amended. 
  • Assist with various IRS filings. These may consist of requests for favorable IRS determinations on active plans or for terminating plans. In addition, filings to the IRS under the Voluntary Compliance Program may also need to be prepared.
  • Assist with the review and approval of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.
  • Research client requests to determine whether their plans comply with applicable government regulations and if Pentegra can and will administer such requests.
  • Act as a liaison for Internal Sales, Conversions and Account Managers to assist with document concerns.
  • Perform any additional duties, as assigned.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in retirement services industry
  • Interest in reviewing and interpreting plan provisions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally to clients
  • Able to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Experience in Retirement Plan Administration is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Relius Plan Documents a plus.
