Regulatory Advisory Services Consultant

The Regulatory Advisory Services Consultant provides customized solutions regarding plan design issues to internal partners as well as plan sponsors.  The Regulatory Advisory Services Consultant possesses a detailed knowledge of qualified retirement plans, such as 401(a), 401(k), 403(b) and 457(b).  The successful Regulatory Advisory Services Consultant helps plan sponsors achieve their retirement plan goals, is customer focused with excellent organizational skills, and able to manage multiple priorities. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with internal partners, advisors and plan sponsors to make recommendations on matters dealing with plan design, legislative changes, and plan correction options.
  • Helping plan sponsors find solutions that enable them to meet business objectives, such as redesigning the plan to reduce cost and/or enhancing plan design features.
  • Providing plan sponsor assistance with mergers and acquisitions.
  • Preparing plan restatements.
  • Interpreting legal documents such as pre-approved plan documents, individually designed plans, investment contracts and trust documents.
  • Preparing sample VCP filing packages for plan sponsors.
  • Preparing contribution illustration calculations for various plan designs.
  • Drafting White Papers on regulatory topics.
  • Staying informed on retirement industry trends and legislation.

Skills and qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of defined contribution consulting experience.
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations.
  • Ability to work independently managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with plan sponsors, attorneys and advisors.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail.

Preferred qualifications

  • ASPPA designation preferred, but not required.
