Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced administrator to service an assigned caseload of plans. The Retirement Plan Administrator is responsible for all aspects of plan administration, including plan design, ongoing administrative services, trust reconciliation, compliance testing and Form 5500 reporting.  We are committed to providing an exceptional level of plan service to each of our clients.  Therefore, an ideal candidate will be expected to possess both the technical expertise required for the position, plus the communication and customer service skills necessary to provide our clients with accurate, timely and personalized service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of plans and serve as primary contact for assigned plan sponsors
  • Consult with clients regarding plan design to prepare and maintain plan documents
  • Provide new client installation services and assist with plan conversions as requested
  • Provide full annual plan administration services from census data collection, contribution calculations through preparation of annual management reports
  • Prepare annual trust account reconciliation and verify contribution deposits to payroll reports
  • Perform annual compliance testing, including ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 401(a)(4), 410(b)
  • Prepare signature ready Form 5500 plus audit support for large plans
  • Prepare other government filings including Form 5558, 5330, 8955-SSA, 1099R and 945
  • Calculate and process distribution requests such as in-service distributions, hardship withdrawals, termination of employment and RMDs
  • Prepare paperwork and process requests for participant loans
  • Communicate effectively with plan sponsors, advisors, accountants and participants
  • Ensure prompt response to all client inquiries via phone, email or letter

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in accounting, mathematics, finance or business)
  • At least 5 years of related work experience in the administration of qualified retirement plans
  • Software knowledge should include proficiency with Microsoft Office products (especially Excel)
  • Plan administration program experience required; Datair software a plus
  • FIS Relius Documents and Government Forms software experience a plus
  • NIPA or ASPPA credentials (e.g. QKA) a plus

Knowledge And Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of retirement plan design, administrative requirements and processes
  • Advanced working knowledge of ERISA, IRS and DOL rules and regulations pertaining to the administration of retirement plans, plus commitment to maintain current knowledge
  • Ability to read and comprehend plan documents to ensure operational compliance and research technical plan questions regarding plan design or operation
  • In-depth knowledge of retirement plan provisions and features to optimize plan design
  • Ability to answer questions from plan sponsors regarding plan design, eligibility, contributions, testing, vesting and other aspects of plan operation
  • Able to review, perform and analyze complex contribution and testing calculations in accordance with plan provisions
  • Understanding of cross-tested profit sharing contributions is required
  • Good project management skills: ability to organize, prioritize, and manage deadlines
  • Excellent math, analytical and organization skills, plus attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem solving skills to assess client issues and accurately provide resolutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to explain complex ideas accurately
  • Strong client relationship skills and commitment to superior customer service
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
