Experienced Attorney Wanted

Our client is a boutique consulting firm that focuses on qualified retirement plans and executive compensation. The firm serves both large (many Fortune 1,000) and small companies, in the public, private, and governmental sectors. They offer the opportunity to work with great clients on complex projects and transactions.

As a successful and rapidly growing firm, our client provides an entrepreneurial, fast paced environment where teamwork is not just encouraged, but rather an integral part of our everyday practice.

This firm is seeking an ambitious, career-driven attorney. As part of the team, you will be responsible for a variety of consulting projects focusing on qualified retirement plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consulting expertise to clients, such as developing financial models, calculating benefit estimates and conducting complex nondiscrimination testing for qualified retirement plans
  • Assisting to identify qualified retirement plan issues, calculate corrections and draft submissions for the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) and Department of Labor (“DOL”) correction programs
  • Performing tax research and draft summaries of conclusions
  • Preparing employee benefit plan returns (Form 5500) for various types of plans, as well as other specialized returns (Form 990, etc.)
  • Reviewing the calculations and work product of peers for reasonableness while assessing and minimizing potential errors, serving as a thorough reviewer of data and results, and drafting correspondence to clients
  • Assist in the representation of clients during IRS and DOL examinations
  • Interpreting and applying laws, regulations, judicial precedent and other guidance
  • Draft memorandum detailing the application of complex tax and ERISA provisions

Education and experiences:

  • Juris Doctor required
  • 5 - 10 years of experience working with technical issues regarding qualified retirement plans
  • Tax LL.M. a plus
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Must be able to take active role as part of a team
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong ability to explain complicated concepts in an understandable manner to a variety of audiences
  • Capacity to learn quickly and willingness to try new things
  • Flexibility to manage multiple projects
