Retirement Plan Service Specialist 5

Primary responsibilities within this level might include acting as the primary resource for critical production or escalation issues or performing a variety of administrative, analytical and record keeping functions for the largest and/or most complex defined contribution plans. Consults with clients and internal partners to complete administrative responsibilities. Understands clients’ needs, concerns and ideas and evaluates and recommends solutions.  Depending on assigned role, duties may include but are not limited to; completing complex data manipulation, allocations, non-discrimination testing, ratio testing, performing complex calculations (i.e. QDRO, profit sharing, plan to plan transfers, etc.), and executing IRS filings (i.e. 5500); providing management level reporting including service quality, volume tracking, and/or staff performance; acting as back-up for all department functions; leading and/or participating in production improvement efforts and addresses procedural impacts; and leading small to medium sized projects or parts of larger projects.  May address compliance and corporate governance issues for the department. Provides training/guidance to less experienced staff members and may act as a team lead.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of customer service experience, financial services industry experience, or a combination of both
  • 4+ years of retirement plan experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to train and mentor
  • 4+ years’ experience in a Retirement Plan
